The Cabinet of Disrepair
A moving interactive installation.
Inspired by the works of Jean Tinguely and Tim Hunkins.
The work aims to intrigue it's audience, much like an old fashioned penny-arcade.
Created as part of the end of year MA show
at the University of the West of England; May 2015
The Cabinet of Disrepair combines hand-carved toys and marionettes with digital technologies.
When triggered by a hidden sensor in the eye of an owl the strings of the puppets begin to move, bringing the puppets to life.
The unicycling bird performs his tightrope and the elephant gives a melancholy wave, all commanded by the incessant ring-master.
